Rates per $1,000 of taxable assessed value, residential (Class 1), from Schedule 702. They match the City's 2026 Tax Rate Table and Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2026-20 (adopted May 5, 2026): General Municipal 3.7886; Regional Hospital District 0.2252; RDOS 0.1640 + RDOS 911 Emergency Telephone Service & Mosquito Control (improvements only) 0.0750 + RDOS Sterile Insect Release Program (land only) 0.0367 = regional 0.2757; BCA 0.0381 + MFA 0.0002 = other 0.0383; School 1.4701; Total 5.7979. Because two RDOS rates apply only to land or only to improvements, the effective rate on a given property can differ slightly from the 5.7979 total. Not included: flat charges on the notice (2026 table: Irrigation $236.51, S.I.R. parcel tax $186.11, SFD Storm $137.53, Base Garbage $165.00, Base Recycling $39.00) that apply only to some properties.

Penticton compared with other British Columbia cities

Compare two cities

Penticton's total residential rate of 0.5798% is above the 0.4794% average of the 28 British Columbia municipalities we cover. A lower rate does not always mean a lower bill: tax = assessed value × rate, so cities with high home values often have lower rates.

Your assessment in Penticton

How assessment works in British Columbia

Assessed by: BC Assessment. Valuation date used for 2026 taxes: July 1, 2025.

The City of Penticton states that BC Assessment sends assessment notices during the first week of January each year (BC Assessment's key-dates page lists December 31 for assessment rolls and notices to be mailed); the 2026 assessment reflects market value as of July 1, 2025. To have an assessment reviewed independently, file a Notice of Complaint (appeal) with BC Assessment by January 31 for a Property Assessment Review Panel (PARP); BC Assessment states that for 2026 this deadline was extended to February 2 because January 31 fell on a weekend. A PARP decision can be appealed to the Property Assessment Appeal Board by April 30.
