Kelowna compared with other British Columbia cities

Compare two cities

Kelowna's total residential rate of 0.4759% is below the 0.4794% average of the 28 British Columbia municipalities we cover. A lower rate does not always mean a lower bill: tax = assessed value × rate, so cities with high home values often have lower rates.

BC Assessment mails assessment notices in January; the notice estimates market value as of July 1 of the previous year. To request an independent review, file a written Notice of Complaint with the assessor by January 31 for a Property Assessment Review Panel (PARP); BC Assessment states that for 2026 this deadline was extended to February 2 because January 31 fell on a weekend. PARPs sit February 1 to March 15; PARP decisions can be appealed to the Property Assessment Appeal Board (PAAB) by April 30. BC Assessment encourages owners to call it before filing.
