Prince Albert bills: taxable assessment = assessed value x provincial percentage (the City states taxable value is 80% of assessed value for residential). Per the bylaw: (taxable assessment x mill rate x mill rate factor) / 1,000 = levy. The components are the uniform mill rates as published; the residential mill rate factor applies to the City levies (the provincial survey shows it applied to the library and civic facilities levies too), but not to the education (school) mill rate, so a plain sum of the components overstates the residential rate. Flat per-property amounts (base tax, snow management and roadways special taxes) are added on top and are not in the mill rates. 2026 (Bylaw No. 8 of 2026, rates deemed imposed from January 1, 2026): General Municipal Levy 14.226 mills (up from 13.943, a 2.03% increase), Library Levy 0.819 mills, Civic Facilities Levy 0.495 mills; residential mill rate factor 0.832 (condominium 0.762). Minimum tax applied to the general municipal levy: $975 (residential, condominium, agricultural, multi-family); vacant residential land $1,600. Base tax: residential $400; multi-family $149 per apartment. The City says the residential base tax rose $35, the snow management special tax $1 and the roadways special tax $11, and the $35 police special tax was eliminated (net +$12). Residential education mill rate 4.27 (Government of Saskatchewan). 2026 is not a revaluation year.

Rates as published for the residential class. Bills can also include fixed charges, local improvement levies and utility fees that are not based on assessed value.

Prince Albert compared with other Saskatchewan cities

Compare two cities

Prince Albert's total residential rate of 1.9810% is above the 1.6768% average of the 4 Saskatchewan municipalities we cover. A lower rate does not always mean a lower bill: tax = assessed value × rate, so cities with high home values often have lower rates.

When Prince Albert property tax is due and how to look up your bill

2026 due dates

  • June 30, 2026

One annual bill: 2026 tax notices were mailed May 28, 2026 and taxes were due June 30, 2026. The bylaw sets the due date as 30 days after the notice is sent (next working day if it falls on a non-working day). TIPPS (Tax Installment Payment Plan) spreads the levy over 12 equal pre-authorized withdrawals on the 1st of each month; apply with the form and a void cheque (catch-up payments may apply depending on the month you join). TIPPS accounts are not subject to the penalties or the early-payment discount.

Late payment: Bylaw No. 9 of 2024: a 1.9% penalty on current taxes unpaid after the due date, applied the first day after the due date and again on the first day of each remaining month of the year; arrears (unpaid after December 31) carry 1.5% on January 1 and the first day of each month. A 1.25% discount applies to municipal and library portions (not school taxes) paid in January.

Your assessment in Prince Albert

How assessment works in Saskatchewan

Assessed by: City of Prince Albert (City Assessor, Assessment Division). Valuation date used for 2026 taxes: January 1, 2023.

Speak to an assessor first (306-953-4320 ext. 2, [email protected]). Formal appeals go to the Board of Revision (Secretary, City Clerk's Office, 1084 Central Avenue, or [email protected]) on the Notice of Appeal form with the fee ($100 per residential property or residential condominium unit). The deadline is 30 days from the date the Notice of Assessment is mailed; for 2026, notices were mailed January 28, 2026 and the appeal deadline was 4:30 p.m. February 27, 2026. Notices are not mailed when the value is unchanged or changed by less than the lesser of $1,000 or 1%. You appeal the assessment, not the taxes. The 2025 revaluation values (base date January 1, 2023) apply from 2025 to 2028.
