Combined municipal résiduel rate published by the City: 0,5955 $ per 100 $. Bylaw G-086-26, arts. 4-5: taux de base and résiduelle 'fixé à 0,5507 $ par 100 $'; art. 11 CMM 'fixé à 0,0083 $'. The ARTM résiduelle rate (art. 12) does not decode in the bylaw PDF text; 0,0365 comes from the City's 2026 rates page, which publishes 0,5507 + 0,0365 (ARTM) + 0,0083 (CMM) = 'Taux combiné' 0,5955 for the résiduelle category (1 to 6 dwellings); the Budget 2026 book shows only the combined 0,5955 (including ARTM and CMM), consistent with that split. 6 logements et plus: 0,7341 + 0,0486 + 0,0111 = 0,7938. Budget 2026: residential tax rate up 0.77% excluding the mandatory quotes-parts; average-home bill up 3.36%. The ARTM (regional transit authority) and CMM (Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal) amounts are parts of the taxe foncière générale set by the bylaw to fund those quotes-parts; the City publishes their sum as the combined résiduel rate (total left null here because the school tax is listed as a separate component). Not included: flat per-dwelling charges on the municipal bill (2026: eau potable 387 $, assainissement des eaux 426 $, ordures 155 $, volumineux 15 $, matières organiques 115 $, Régie Beau-Château 118 $; piscine 50 $) and sector taxes (répartitions locales, e.g. réseau d’aqueduc RA11), which vary by area. School tax: single Québec-wide rate for the school year beginning July 1, billed separately by the Centre de services scolaire des Grandes-Seigneuries; it applies only to the taxable value above the first 25 000 $, so it cannot simply be added to the municipal rate. Amending bylaw G-086-1-26 (adopted October 19, 2026, in force October 26, 2026) only adds a tax credit for serviced lots that became vacant because of a disaster (art. 9.1); it does not change the residential rates.

Rates as published for the residential class. Bills can also include fixed charges, local improvement levies and utility fees that are not based on assessed value.

Châteauguay compared with other Quebec cities

Compare two cities

Châteauguay's total residential rate of 0.6745% is below the 0.7228% average of the 35 Quebec municipalities we cover. A lower rate does not always mean a lower bill: tax = assessed value × rate, so cities with high home values often have lower rates.
